When this Bruster’s Real Ice Cream’s franchise owner decided to bring the brand to Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs, he was looking for a construction partner who could help turn his vision into a welcoming destination for the community. From the beginning, the goal was to create a space that captured the nostalgic feeling of a traditional ice cream shop while providing a modern experience for customers. The owner wanted this location to feel approachable, memorable, and unique; a place where families and friends could gather to enjoy Bruster’s signature ice cream experience.
Shortly after meeting, CK Construction and the franchise owner developed a strong working relationship built on timely communication, collaboration, and a shared commitment to bringing the project to life. Together, we worked through the details needed to transform the existing commercial space into a location that reflected both the Bruster’s brand and the owner’s vision for the Hoffman Estates community.
Located just off of I90 and 59, one of the unique challenges of this project was working within an existing commercial space while creating a new experience that felt purpose-built for Bruster’s. Our team had to carefully balance the needs of the franchise, the limitations of the existing space, local requirements, and the owner’s vision for a location that could serve customers throughout the year. A major focus was creating flexibility for seasonal changes. The design needed to provide the fun, open-air feeling customers expect during warmer months while still allowing the location to operate comfortably through the colder seasons. Throughout the process, CK Construction Chicago also collaborated with the franchise owner and the Village of Hoffman Estates to navigate approvals for an outdoor patio area, giving customers an additional space to safely enjoy their ice cream during the summer months.
